Committees

Committees are where the real work of the organization is accomplished.  All of the following listed GGGG Committees have a solid record of performance.  For example, GGGG's first ever working committee was the "Referendum Committee."  This committee was charged with the complicated and extremely difficult task of obtaining 1,487 signatures from registered voters who resided within the city limits of Hot Springs in less than two weeks.  This mammoth undertaking was necessary because the Hot Springs city directors had approved spending over $14 million of the citizen's money without even asking their opinion or letting them have a say about being burdened with this huge debt for the next 25 years.  To add to the difficulty, the city directors blatantly declared their action an "emergency" which greatly reduced the time legally allowed for a petition drive.  Most citizens thought it couldn't be done.  The bottom line is that the committee was not only successful, they actually obtained over 3,300 signatures which was more than double the number necessary.  Due to the GGGG's "Referendum Committee's efforts, the people's "right to vote" was restored.

Another GGGG Committee was successful in bringing the facts of the director's new "City Hall" plan to the people without the GGGG taking a formal position for or against the issue.  This committee just provided the facts so that the people could decide the issue for themselves.  Well, the people voted to defeat the city board's plan by a margin of 3 to 1.  The main point is simply that the PEOPLE had their right to vote restored and they demonstrated their distaste of the city manager's and city board's attempt to disallow their participation.

All other, now inactive, committees listed in green below also successfully completed their charged responsibilities.  Active committees have also all had major successes.  For example, the GGGG's Public Safety Committee has greatly raised awareness of the crime problem in our community.  This committee is now hard at work to establish a plan designed to help restore our citizens' safety and security.  Join us, you are welcome to participate on our committees.

What Active Committees Have Accomplished

The Public Safety, Ethics, and City/County Affairs Committees have had major successes but are much of their work is still not complete.  Once the work for these hard-working committees is completed, press releases and/or press conferences will be held to properly inform the public.  This will be accomplished through this website and all other media forms.
